14.4 miles
This past Monday afternoon, Gatsby and I peddled our way into the e53 record books by riding our bicycles 14.4 miles. Wich means between the two of us, we rode damn near 29 miles:P We basically rode up and down the Sac and Fox nature trail in Marion, wich isn’t paved or flat either! We are mountain bike gods:P
Yeah we are no where near good yet, but that is impressive considering that we are the laziest and fattest of the e53 group, both of us weighing in excess of 200 lbs, and both of us just starting biking four weeks ago. And me with my gimpy leg:P
And this is only the begining, we plan on biking until we can master all the area trails in one go. Including the 50 mile plus cedar valley nature trail. And I plan on going to Dubuque sometime and ride the heritage trail, and when it is completed, we will master the Grant Wood trail. Also, Gatsby thinks that trying RAGBRAI in a few years is a good idea. It’s a lofty goal, but it might be fun, despite my loathing of bicycles on highways, and my hatred of hippies. But at least it’s well organized:P
I’m also hoping that in the future, this exercise thing might help my leg get better, and me get faster on the drums. Mabey even loose weight:P I also hope more staffers get bikes so we can ride sometime. Decent bikes can be aquired for little money and I have a truck so you don’t have to worry about transporting it, I’ll pick you up:P And I believe Gatsby has a spare bike but I don’t believe I would trust it at places like sugar bottom, but Sac and Fox or Cedar Valley would be appropriate trails for it. We might even have to plan a trip up to Madison next year to ride the Capitol City bike trail:P
Anyway, that’s all for now. Ride Bianchi or die!
Quote of the day: “My God is strong. When I die, I must go before him and recite the riddle of steel, and if I don’t know it, he will kick me out of Valhalla and laugh at me. That is Crom. Strong on his mountain.” Conan the Barbarian
