2004: The Year of the BoBo!
I’ve decided that this year, I’m not going to have New Years resilutions or whatever. I know alot of people do it, but I’m not gonna. Instead, this year, I have a ressurrection. I am bound and determined to have a better year than this last one.
2003 sucked ass. Between me getting hit by a car, spending twelve days in the hospital and five months at home with no money and nothing to do but sit and heal. Chad getting sent to Iraq and getting hurt. Missing almost every major thing I had planned for the second half of the year (Metallica in St Louis, Iron Maiden/Dio/Motorhead in Chicago, drag races in Cordova, Wisconsin Moto Guzzi ralley, Jones County Fair, etc etc). And family trouble up the ying yang (great grandma got backed over by a car in parking lot, uncle having heart attack, grandma diagnosed with bone cancer, me almost dying, dad still not being able to get dissabillity, etc etc). The list goes on and on.
But on the other hand, 2003 had it’s good moments. No-one in my family died or any of my close friends. My band Untitled played it’s first and last show in our machine shed outside my house. My band Tribulation played it’s first two shows (the first right after untitled was done with just me and Paul, the second being fourth of july weekend with me and brent in our other machine shed.) Brandon, Brent, and me played a Metallica cover band show after Tribulation and Foodstamp in our shed wich rocked and it was a blast. I got closer to alot of good friends (you know who you are) and further away from old ones (once again, you know who you are).
Also in the positive side of ‘03, was the purchase of my new motorcycle (even though it lasted only a little more than a week). The starting of my new job and the quiting of my old one. All the kindness that was showered apon me by everyone after my accident. Getting closer to my family after my accident.
Making it to two ralleys (Illinois Guzzi Ralley, and the Elkader Guzzi Ralley). Making it to see a few awesome concerts (saw Dead and Dreaming/Trogdor four times, saw Godsmack with Brandon, saw Slayer with Putz and Zach). Saw a few friends get closer to their dreams (Zach moving to McGreggor, Paul finnishing school in Wyoming to be diesel tech, Gatsby making it alive out of Mount Mercy). The birth of the immortal ROBOFAN story saga. The consumtion of ,I think, four St Olaf tenderloins. The news that Rob Halford is rejoining Judas Priest. The capture of Saddam.
But the best thing of all to come out of 2003 is probably my page (hey, it’s my list dammit!). I have a place where I can spew my random thoughts and babblings thanks to Zach and everyone else here. This page helped pass the time when I was laid up, and keep up with friends that I don’t see everyday. As well as meet new ones that I hadn’t seen before. I don’t know what I’d do without my blog now.
So here are my plans for 2004. It’s not a resilution cause I know this will happen or I’ll die trying:)
First off, I’m staying out of the hospital this year. Also, I’d like to go back to school part time but I don’t know if this will happen. Depends on if my settlement money is enough or on time. I’m also moving out of this hellhole. I plan on renting a small house with bandmate/friend Brent towards the end of the summer.
Speaking of Brent, Tribulation plans on playing gigs finally this summer starting hopefully at the end of may/early june. We also plan on starting a blog on this site for the band where you can listen to sound clips of songs, mabey little video snippets, have gig postings, band bios, pics, news, and other Tribulation related stuff. We also plan on recording our first album since we have enough material written now. I don’t know what we will call it for sure but I’ll keep you posted. I have high hopes for this year in the band area cause we are finally getting the sound we want and the songs are just plain awesome. So if you like metal, keep tuned in here.
I’m also going to make it to the concerts I missed this year as well as some others. First, Metallica. I believe they are doing a winter sanitarium with Godsmack. Second, Judas Priest is having a 30th anniversary reunion tour this year and I’m not missing it for anything. Third, Dio if they tour this year. It is likely since a new album is being recorded right now. Also wish to see: Iron Maiden, Impelliterri, Fozzy, WWIII, Deep Purple, Slayer (again), Motorhead, In Flames, Arch Enemy, Strapping Young Lad, Sentenced, Lacuna Coil, Shadows Fall, Black Label Society, Yngwie J Malmsteen, and anyone else cool that swings close enough to see. I don’t know who will come close yet, but when I find out, you will all know.
I want to make it to the bike ralleys that I normaly go to in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Iowa. But this year I want to make it to Sturgis as well. But I doubt it will happen with everything else thats going on this year. We’ll see. I also want to make it to Cordova for some drags, Anamosa for the hillclimb again, and I want to go either to Peoria to see the TT races, or to Springfield to see the flat trackers. Wouldn’t hurt to go to a 4×4 fest either.
I’m getting a new motorcycle this year as well as I can’t live without one. Though I don’t know what I want as of yet. I would like to get a new vehicle as well, but probably be a small car or something economical. I will keep my truck but I will work on it and make it more nice.
I’d also like to trade in my two small drum kits and get one big nice one. As well as buy a new electric guitar and amp as well as an accoustic one for myself so Paul can have his back. I still also want a fiddle or violin or whatever to piss around with. Mabey a banjo too. I just like to experiment.
For Halloween this year, I’ve decided to dress up like Rob Halford from Judas Priest. Wich includes full leathers, huge sunglasses, and a bald head. You can hold me to it too. I’m gonna do it. Rob Halford rocks and it’s Priest’s 30th anniversary so I’m doing it in that honor. I’m gonna carry around a mic with me and sing Judas Priest/Fight/Halford songs all day. It’s gonna be fun!
I also vow to hang out more with friends that I don’t see often. I know alot of awesome guys and gals that I don’t hang out with much that would be fun to hang out with. I will spare you a list, but if I hang out with you more, then you’ll know you’re on it:)
And I’m getting into shape this year. I’ve had it. I’m gonna do it this year. I’m gonna start going jogging every day and lifting weights every other day. I’m tired of having a gut and not having enough endurance. Plus, I want to be able to keep pounding away on those drums for long periods of time, so I gots to be in shape (since I play metal, wich requires more stamina than, say, country drummers).
Thats about it besides the fact that this place will continue to be funny and entertaining for another year. You never know what I’ll come up with:) Any way, this is BoBo saying, hope your new year is as bright as I hope mine will be.

BoBo my man, you have alot to be thankful for. Number one, YOU ARE ALIVE, and to your friends, that is the best thing to them. To Chad, my boy, you are a very good friend. And not to get too sappy, a friend of Chad’s is a friend of mine. When he gets home, another good thing to look forward to in 04, I want to meet you. Enough sappy shit. Have a great 04 BoBo.

Congratulations on not dying. You’re still on schedule for living forever. As for New Year’s resolutions… Do what I did. I made a resolution many years ago that I’m still keeping. I vowed never to make any more. I haven’t broken it yet.
