This thursday is the second anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks. Although I am not Mr Patriotism or anything, I still think it was a horrible thing that all those people had to die for nothing. And since then countless lives have been lost under Bush’s blind search for the real enemy. So for the anniversary of the attacks I ask my viewers, Where were you and what were you doing when you found out about the attacks? Every one has one of those older reletives with the story of where they were when something happened like D-Day or Pearl Harbor. So where were you? I’ll tell you my story even though it isn’t interesting to anybody:)
I woke up unusualy early on Sept. 11 2001 but I did not turn on the TV. For some reason for wich I still don’t remember, I got dressed and went uptown to score some breakfast at Gary’s. I didn’t even have to work that day and I didn’t have school cause I went on Mon, Wed, Fri back then. I have since left Gary’s and I no longer go to school cause I couldn’t afford it.
Anyway, I didn’t turn on the radio either cause I listen to CD’s in the car. When I walked into Gary’s I could tell something was up. They had a little radio up front at the courteousy counter (they never have the radio up front unless something happend or a Hawkeye game is on). Plus everyone seemed unusualy quiet and gloomy (compared to the regular kind).
I got my food and on the way out all I got from the lady at the counter was that a couple of planes got hijacked and crashed. I didn’t think it was a big deal then cause that kind of thing happens every once in a while. But it wasn’t until I got back home and turned on the news that I fully realized the extent of what happened. It was on every damn channel! I sat there in awe all day and watched all the stuff happening on TV and wondered “What’s next?”. Will the attacks get worse? Get closer? War? Who did it? Why?
I did feel a bit of patriotism like everyone else that lasted a while. I got a sticker in my window that has Bin Laden on it being pissed on by the Calvin like character dressed in a stars and stripes suit (still there by the way:). I put a few flag stickers on the truck and made sure to buy a United We Stand shirt from the guys at the VFW stand that year.
I just hope that all those people didn’t die in vain. That we learned something from all this. And it’s not better security. The lesson is these people have been pissed at us for a long time but we chose to ignore them because we believed that America was somehow invincible and that nothing bad ever happens here. Now we know. I don’t know if Bushes plan to wipe them all out will work or not instead of understanding why they were pissed and fixing it. But I think they are just jealous of how good we have it over here.
Anyway, enough babble, I don’t have much knowledge in this field anyway, I just felt like babbling awhile.
Anywho, let me know. Where were you? And don’t forget the other days of infamy, Dec. 7, 1942, and most importantly, July 18, 2003. Wich would be, respectively, Pearl Harbor, and the day I crashed my bike.
That is all. There was much rejoicing from the peasants.
